Laughing and Crying

Sorry it's been a while. With guests and then travel and then trying to catch our breath, it seems things have been a bit crazy. And sleepless. Jasper is waking up several times a night, once again. It's like he's a newborn -- every two hours last night. Sigh.

I think he is exploring the idea that he has these emotions that generate reactions. Crying means momma comes to me. Laughing means I'm the center of attention. How glorious is that?

The good news is that the laughing is just about enough to make me forget how I was up all night. He's a hoot. We absolutely cannot keep the guy still right now. In fact, yesterday I was at the grocery store with Jasper in tow. I was trying to pick out a bottle of wine with a very nice mother tapped me on the shoulder and said, "I'm not sure if you know it, but he's standing up." Yep. In the cart, buckled in, my little man twisted around and was attempting to reach for something down inside the cart. I wasn't sure whether to be more embarrassed that someone else had to tell me that my kid was about to take a nose dive into the cart or that I was too consumed with my wine selection to notice. Or worse -- the combination of both.

See the video below. Out of frustration while trying to change a diaper on a baby who constantly flips onto his belly and crawls, Seth threw something on the floor. Jasper started cracking up. Seth did it again. Jasper laughed again. He-ed and haw-ed!
