I got a job!

It's time I share my great news. I got a new job! It's something I've been working toward my entire life, but I was sure my resume wouldn't qualify me. Yet somehow I was not just offered this job, it was very clear to me that I absolutely could not decline.

My boss is great. He's a bit demanding, and caught at the wrong moment, he's quite a crank. I'm hoping Seth is up for supporting me because the big cheese demands long hours, sometimes even working at night. It sounds like our days could be quiet at times as it's a small operation, just the two of us most days. One of the things I'm in charge of is basically keeping my boss' social calendar. It sounds like fun, but I'm told it can be tough because sometimes he simply refuses to get out the door on time even though an event has been scheduled for weeks.

I don't have a title. The boss says he wouldn't want to restrict my duties by putting a label on it, but basically anything that needs to be done falls to me. I don't just pick up his laundry, I do it. Dinner reservations? My responsibility. Keeping track of his toys is a never-ending job since he tosses them anywhere as if they're nothing. And don't get me started on his schedule.

He spends most of his days lounging and expects for me to listen to his endless babble and make sure he's got plenty of things to keep him occupied. Sometimes when I talk to him, he just seems to stare off into space. And there was that look the other day -- gaga eyes and a smile -- that makes me think he might have feelings for me. You may be asking why I'd put up with all this, especially considering the pay, but it's all about gaining some experience.

Hey, no job is perfect, right?

Yes, you guessed it, you smart reader! I've turned into a silly mommy who thinks that the rest of the world is as interested in my baby as I am. Well, thanks to the brilliance of the series of tubes called the Internet, I am free to go on and on and on and on about my kid. Lucky you, Grandma!

The purpose of this blog is to give me an outlet to share my joys, concerns and funny moments as I officially start this new gig. I've been taking care of Jasper for three months, but now is when the newness wears off and real life settles in. It seems only fitting that we're also embarking on a new year that promises to be one of the most eventful of our lives. My other blogs is restricted to foodies and Seth's is great for pics, but we're getting complaints about all the cycling and music rants mixed in with baby news.

The title of this blog speaks to both my apprehension and elation. My new job is not a Monday through Friday, nor a 9 to 5. It's every day, all day. I hope I'm up for the challenge. My goal is to blog quite regularly. Doesn't that sound like naive new mommy speak? We'll see.

Check back regularly. And here's a little funny from our world today. Jasper often prefers to spend time in his crib checking out all the corners instead of sleeping. He gets quite restless at times. Today I went in to check in on him after he'd been asleep for about five minutes. I was going to try to get him back to sleep, but I pulled him quickly out of any attempt at slumber with my laughter. One sock was randomly stuck to the side of the crib, not on his foot where I'd left it. Guess my new boss will do anything to get a laugh.

Gotta run before my boss catches me blogging on the job. He doesn't even leave me alone enough to let me check my personal e-mail!
